According to reports, WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is developing a new feature that would let users post status updates on desktop beta. According to WABetaInfo, the new feature would enable users to submit a status update directly from a new menu under the status area.

Users will be able to utilize the new option to report any suspicious status update that may be in violation of the Terms of Service to the moderation team. The status update will be sent to the business for moderation purposes, much as the reporting notifications, so they can determine whether there has been a violation. End-to-end encryption cannot be broken. Nobody can listen to or view the content of a user's private calls or messages, not even WhatsApp and Meta, thus it's critical that the firm provide a report option to protect the platform and its users.

According to the source, WhatsApp Desktop beta will get a future upgrade that will include the option to report status updates. In the meanwhile, the messaging service last month gave select beta testers access to a new feature that lets users view profile images in group conversations on a desktop.
